A dance theatre installation – is that even possible?
29 six-foot fabric dolls and their creator, the visual artist Marianne Lindow, invited me to have a go.
The artistic team, Marianne Lindow and the dance makers Valérie Kommer and Malin Gebken, started their thinking process for ‚You allow me TO BE – moved‘ in 2015.
Soon, they enjoyed the support of the amazing performers Charlotte Brohmeyer, Lisa Freudenthal, Katharina Geyer, Shan-Li Peng, Niloufar Shahisavandi and Donia Touglo.
We learned each others stories about migration, alienation and the things that bring us together and have created an ever-changing, highly moving and uplifting dance theatre installation – to get to know us all by.
The dolls take part as subjects, objects, building blocks and means of locomotion.

Jan Wiesbrock put us in the right light and Alessandro de Matteis and Theresa Förster created a short dance film with us in the context of vibrant Cologne Mülheim. Please do have a peek and watch our short film on Marianne Lindow’s page!
Funded by Kulturamt der Stadt Köln and the Bezirksregierung des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen as well as kindly supported by Tanzfaktur Köln, Quartier am Hafen and ZAIK we produced and performed ‚You allow me To Be- moved‘ throughout 2016 until spring 2017.
